:: AL HACA .. THE SOUNDWAVE THAT DESTROYED ALL DISBELIEVERS ::
Imagine Roots Manuva's take on hip hop, mixed with some of them dirt basslines and broke-the-fukk-up-beats of a Dizzy Rascal, but still warm sounding like that future soul of a Sa Ra Partners collective - retouched and dubbed to the outer limits by a Mad Professor – now that s the sound of Al Haca in a nutshell. Ten years in the game as a soundsystem, 5 as a production team, two classic records released internationally along with a catalogue of remixes all amounting to well over 11 thousand records sold in 3 years, now those are some the points earned by the crew.
Al Haca is an open source production collective with members based in Germany (Greifswald, Stuttgart, Berlin), as well as in Birmingham UK. At the core of the project are the main members (MCC and RQM plus Arnd Wollmann and Ras T-Weed), however endless collaborations with other producers and vocalists is where the spice of the music comes from. There are no guidelines to these collabos - the artists just need to bring flavor. To date Al Haca has worked with the Vienna based Stereotyp (G-Stone), swapped files with Berlin's Tolcha (Metapolyp) and Jahcoozi (KYO). Al Haca's remixes of songs originally recorded by the legendary Sizzla and Lady Saw, along with original vocal material by artists such as Shagon, Mr Dead and Spectacular are some of the features on the Al Haca full length records.
Being that the sound of Al Haca grew out of the bass-cabinet culture and is meant to be experienced on massive soundsystems where it becomes physical literally, the crew has been bringing it to clubs and festivals consistently over the last 3 years. Al Haca already appeared live in London, Vienna, Luxemburg, Brussels, Berlin, Geneva, Munich, Cologne, Stuttgart, Bern, Budapest just to name a few. Some of the artists that shared the same bills or were on the same tours with the crew include: I-Wolf, Stereotyp, Sofa Surfers, Peter Kruder, Roni Size, Nicollete, Tosca, Megablast, Jazzanova, Overproof feat. DJ DICK, Pionear, Daddy Freddy, M.I.A., Beginners, Pressure Drop, Modeselektor etc.
The Al Haca live shows range from a full band set up, which includes two vocalists, live electronic programming, live bass and guitar as well as live percussion, to a more stripped down version of the above mentioned, which is based on live programming and vocal participation. DJ gigs as a soundsystem are also an option for the crew – these include the Ostudio Allstars – Selecta Pehle and DJ BIRD aka Faki Faki. |
