AL HACA soundsystem - RESET THE SPEED! - fusion-festival 2010 by AL-HACA soundsystem
AL HACA was found in 1993 in Greifswals, a north – eastern outpost of just united Germany. In 2010 the collective decided to take it back from a concert act to the original dancefloor orientated Soundsystem style and fashion, that has been the first step in almost two decades of ongoing ventures in bass and time. The main fuel on this voyage was to remain open to the countless different shades of Dub, Offbeat and Bass music: from rare early Dubbing experiences to contemporary and futuristic bassline driven expressions, from 70s Roots selection to Dubby Post Punk Experiments in the early 80s, from Steppers and Neo Dub of the raving 90s through the sheer endless universe of Dub Techno and to the uncountable strains of the ever redefining pressure of Dubstep and beyond…
The seventeen years inbetween saw a number of Record releases, on the Birmingham based label Different Drummer run by Rockers Hifi, and a very fruitfull collaboration with Stereotyp from Vienna, which culminated in a series of releases on Klein Records, plus a number of remixes by and of AL HACA The Radio Slave remix of Stereotyp meets Al-Haca’s stomper “Blaze’n’cook” made it recently on Souljazz’s compilation Riddim Box2.
Today, the members and allies of AL HACA are spread over different corners of the earth, while the connection within the network still remains a core element of the collective effort to keep pushing this sound forward and beyond. The rootical side of AL HACA further Dub excursions is presented by original founding member Alexander Pehlemann aka Selektah PEhLE. Two years ago he has settled in Leipzig. As the editor of the infamous ZONIC magazine, his gaze has long been directed to the eastern neighborhoods and their take on the emerging and flourishing Subcultures, which has led him to compile a sampler titled “Polska Rootz, Beatz, Dubs, Mixes – Future Folk From Poland”, released in 2009 on Eastblock Music. In order to frame and focus these wide and wild adoptions of Dub and releated blends, he teamed up with long time AL HACA cooperateur and Berlin based Techno veteran Bert Greif aka Bird’s got the KEY, a gifted DJ and resident of the FormResonance label from Hamburg, best known for his outstanding and well received radio mixes, he did together with AL HACA’s production animal CEE for Urban Landscapes, Back to the Basics, Betalounge, to name just a few. As a deadly DJ duo they are on a mission dedicated to shake the edges of every bassbin, with a collector’s treasure, to serve weight beyond measure, to supply dances with pressure, to chase and praise the repercussions inside the echo chamber.
The full AL HACA setup includes a live set by CEE, one of the chief instigators of the Barefoot movement all across the world. As a frontrunner and seminal contributor to Berlin and Vienna underground club circuits Cee seeks expansion into new ground and territory by planting seeds in Asia with his well rounded bass heavy tremors and ground shaking vibrations.
Back to the BASSics!
