Mel Merio started to live and to realize herself after the Matura (High School Diploma). The whole Mathematics-, Physics- and geometric drawing madness just bored her too much. So why she was enrolled at a Bundesrealgymnasium (High School) nobody really knows to date: More non-talent in the natural sciences has hardly existed. Instead Mel Merio always tried to entertain her family from the start. Either with the little contribution of „the Queen of the Night“ or a pianosolo, a little dance during sunday's lunch or an improvisation of „La Traviata meets the dying swan“. The audience was amused, but it was not very ..pleasing.. to hear. After school Mel fled Vienna to pursue her dream job, modelling. During that period she visited Taiwan, Athens, Barcelona, Paris, London, Mailand, Berlin, Korea.....and last but not least stranded in Hamburg where she lived for 2 consecutive years. But Hamburg got boring, like many things in Mel's life, and back she went to Vienna. Bored by modelling - there we have it again - Mel Merio started to make her hobby her profession and founded the fashion label „Mel Merio“ which she directed successfully. „Rossmann“, a big european drugstore chain asked her to use her name and offered her to release her own perfume line on the market. She agreed and since then the products were received so well that there are now 3 product lines being sold in Germany, Hungary, Poland and Czechia. The whole fashion circus was still not enough for Mel therefore she opened the concept store „Familiensitz“. Record store, cafe, partylocation, costume storage and clothing store in one. Further she started the 80s party line „The Nightrider“ at that time (Acts: Christopher Just, Tok Tok, Northern Lights, Justice, Queen of Japan,..) and was working on the styling for commercial tv spots (T-Mobile, Bipa, Mediamarkt,..) as well as music videos (Herbert Grönemeyer, Peaches, Sarah Connor, Wyclef Jean,..). But already then Mel Merio had only the stage in mind and together with Christopher Just she created the „Menstruation Monsters“. An electro-clash girlgroup Mel Merio used to heat up some clubs all over the world. In April 2005 she started additional work for the channel MTV Austria. Her viennese accent and self-indulgence attracted the TV channel PulsTV, the moderation for „Metro“, an urban city magazine was offered to her. Radio Energy got hold of the lively TV aunt, also gladly called „Queen of Trash“, as well and gave her her own radioshow „Mel Merio live“. Somewhere along the way it became clear for Mel that she had to get onto the stage again and therefore invested more time into her project „Mel Merio“, succeeding the „Menstruation Monsters“ and being produced by Christopher Just as well. After he worked intensively on the track „Domino Dancing“ it was released on Klein Records and immediately climbed the german club charts from 26 to 7. The next single, joint produced by Larry Tee („Super Model you better work“ - Ru Paul, awarded with an US-platin album) and Christopher Just was released in March by Klein Records followed by the album in autumn. December 2007 Mel Merio turned her back to radio and television to have more time for her own productions. She moved to New York together with producer and partner Christopher Just. From there she will work for the austrian channel PulsTV editorially and on the production of her album. The record will be released in autumn 2008 at the latest.
