Originally from east germany
, patrick pulsinger grew up in Styria , Austria
.
After attending the school for electric engineering, which he left after 4
years, he worked as a hairdresser and moved to vienna in 1988.
That was the time when some dudes stored their music equipment in his sleepingroom
and he got a chance to play around at night.
After washing and cutting hair each day, he spent his free time in smelly practice
rooms where he played drums in the infamous band "the sheeps left". More
or less....
When patrick pulsinger met erdem tunakan in 1991, he owned an old
atari and a tape machine.
Introduced by Abuse Industries co-founder constantin peyfuss, he packed his
stuff in a trainingbag and headed for erdem`s bedroom studio.
In a 2 days session they recorded all the material of their first album.
"b.Low-3.11-eyewittness news on subfusion fm" was re lea sed on Abuse Industries
and was sold out in a couple of days.
In 1992 he decided to move to new york
for a while to work as dj and producer.
He got a job at nyc`s most famous "limelight" and worked as a producer
for the technolabel "vortex".
Good time to make some contacts and the projekt "3M" was found together
with helmut wolfgruber.
Patrick had a hard time selling his own tracks to the labels in new york ,
because the clubsound at that time reached a point where 'harder and faster'
was the deal.
Back in vienna erdem and patrick decided that it was time to
take their fate in their own hands.
Cheap records was born in 1993.
Patrick pulsinger took part in projekts like:
Sluts`n `strings&909, Io, love the machines, restaurant tracks, showroom
recordings.
Together with mario neugebauer he produced the latest album "only tonight" by
Louie austen.
Besides his work for cheap he also re lea sed on other international recordlables
like:
Disko b, mo wax, m-plant, form and funktion, and many more....
In 1999 tunakan
and pulsinger had a big success with the a remixwork for the viennese volksoper.
The "swanlake remixed" dance performance opened up a new audience for
this rather dusty house and was sold out within one and a half years.
The cd was re lea sed on the own imprint of the volksoper.
Over
the last 10 years patrick pulsinger did remixwork for bands and projects like:
Lamb, opelbastads, anti pop consortium, cornershop, denki groove, david holmes,
WIT, goldene zitronen, dogboy and many many many more.
Patrick toured together
with friends from the cheap crew and various projects:
from freestyle jazzstuff with florian sokol to dark elektro with gerhard "the
count" potuznik - from san francisco to tokoy and back.
His latest projects
are:
"Easy to assembe-hard to take apart" vol.1, vol.2 on Form and Funktion
records.
Improvised jazz played by the cream of viennas jazz music ians, cutup and shaped
by raw CPU...
